The background video image is a compilation of a series of four videos shot near the border of California and Mexico. The beams of a vehicles headlights intermittently sweep across the desert landscape in four separate locations of a popular recreation area.
The object in the foreground is a cast plastic and brass object that sits on an a series of rubber blocks. I was interested in the the architectural presence of the blocks and the potentially menacing characteristics of the plastic and brass object when viewed in conjunction with the video work.

a series of four bronze castings each derived from a snapped 2x4. These four elements sit on a stack of paper approximately 1.5 inches thick. The background image is one of a series of images taken at a resort in Mexico looking at the boundary of the resort as it gradually fades from the artificial to the natural landscape.
